Another important code is Unicode . Unicode uses two bytes to represent one character. Because it uses 2 bytes, it has 65,536 possible combinations, and so can be used to represent a lot more characters than ASCII can represent. In fact, Unicode represents the standard characters of most of the world languages.

You don't need to know these codes in order to use your computer. These are described here simply as examples of how computers are able to store information using nothing but 0's and 1's.
